Hungry? Apple Adds 'Food and Drink' Section to App Store

Apple App Categories

Thanks to the growing popularity of food and drink-related apps, Apple is adding a dedicated section for the category to its App Store.

?Food & Drink? joins other app categories such as education, entertainment and finance as a part of an effort to help Apple device users find programs based on their area of interest.

The section lists the Food Network app as its top paid app, followed by Allrecipes.com, Fast Paeleo and Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Apps from companies such as Pizza Hut and Starbucks are also listed in the section.

Apple is no stranger to adding new categories to the App Store. In March, it added a Catalogs section for visually-rich shopping catalogs.

MarbleCam

MarbleCam puts a unique spin on iPhone photography, allowing you to take photos that look like you focused a macro camera lens on a glass marble. The app has 25 different sizes of marbles, offers the ability to take square or rectangular pictures, and offers instant sharing to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.


Tour de France Live

NBC?s Tour de France Live Mobile app lets you watch every stage of the Tour de France live on your mobile device. The app can let you see every rider?s position in real-time on the course, and provides live video coverage from every stage as well as full stage replays. You can also read about different riders, and check out top stories and interviews from the event.


Pandora for iOS

Pandora updated its iOS app this week. Version 3.2 of the app has an updated design, and brings with it bookmark integration from the web as well as a new ?I?m tired of this track? button for removing songs that you like, but have heard a bit too often from your station.


Plumber

You play the role of a Plumber who is trying to prevent a flood from happening in this Android game. The game has you turn different pipe pieces by touching them in order to connect them together, as you create pipes you reduce the water level in the game and help prevent an overflow. An update this week adressed bug fixes and added 100 new levels to the game.


Where's My Perry?

Following the success of Where?s My Water, Disney released Where?s My Perry, a physics-based game that has you use water in different forms ?ice, steam, liquid ? in order to solve a puzzle. Featuring Perry from Phineas and Ferb, the game currently has more than 80 puzzles across four chapters.


Final Fantasy III

Final Fantasy III is now available for Android. Originally released in 1990, the game was the first in the Final Fantasy series to sell more than a million copies. The Android version of the game brings the fun of the original game to your phone or tablet and has new and improved 3D visuals and story sequences especially for Android.


HealthTap

Mobile app HealthTap recently saw an update, adding the ability to ask doctors private one-on-one questions for free. The mobile app already lets you ask medical questions which are published publically for free. The updated version makes things private for $9.99 a question, with the ability to ask a followup question for an additional $4.99.
